Creating the KotKot Brand

My mom has been working as a teacher for almost 35 years. I remember, as a kid, watching her and thinking about how meaningful her work was. Even now, I’m so proud of her and the way she treats children. She always listens to them and is deeply involved in their lives. I believe I got that side of me from her. This is where my desire to create something meaningful, educational, and fun comes from. I also owe my mom the name of the brand. So, thank you, Mom, for being my biggest inspiration.

In Russian, 'Kot' means cat, which explains my logo. Cats are playful and funny, and that’s exactly what I want my brand to be. But here’s something special—my mom’s maiden name is Kotova, which is related to 'Kot.' When I was choosing my Instagram nickname back in 2017, I decided to take her surname but made it shorter—Kot Kot.

After years of perfecting my creative skills and wrestling with imposter syndrome, I realized that my dreams would only stay dreams unless I took action. So, I decided to make them real. Even though my toys are handmade at home from scratch, they’re crafted with all the love and care I have. I’ve poured my heart into every piece, and I hope that when kids play with these toys, they’ll light up with big smiles. More than anything, I hope my brand creates special moments that bring parents and their kids closer together.

And now, I’m thrilled to share that these toys are available on Etsy!

I know this journey has just started, and it might be difficult, but at the same time, I’m really excited about what’s coming next. You know why? Because cats are brave, and so am I!
